Immigration Psychological Evaluations

Boston, Massachusetts & throughout Massachusetts

I offer psychological evaluations for immigration purposes.  Asylum, VAWA, Hardship and U Visas

I’m trained to provide confidential, in-depth, specialized psychological evaluations to support USCIS applications.

My focus is on:

  • I accentuate the strengths of the applicant.
  • With a background of treating PTSD, I provide a deep and broad understanding of what many applicants have gone through.
  • Quick Turnaround
  • I provide a detailed, in-depth, and professionally written report of generally 10 – 12 pages, including a summary.
Why are Immigration Evaluations Useful?

Immigration Psychological Evaluations can assess mental or physical abuse toward the individual who has been a victim of a qualifying crime.  They are helpful in proving the emotional effects of being a victim of a crime which can be substantiated in court in support of an immigration petition.  They can also be helpful for proving extreme hardship in support of an immigration petition.

How do immigration evaluations work?

  • I will conduct 2 interviews with you over a 1 – 2 week period. The interview will help me understand important psychological, medical, and social background information, and your current level of cognitive and psychological functioning.
  • I will consult with your attorney to determine the type of waiver that will be best suited for your case.
  • If available I will review any medical, psychological, and other supporting documents that help me have a better understanding of your psychological and emotional functioning.
  • If necessary, I will administer psychological tests and questionnaires to help me understand the specific areas where you are having psychological difficulty.
  • After we complete the evaluation, we will write a comprehensive report (10-12 pages) along with a summary that integrates our findings and give it to your attorney.

Who I Work With

Extreme Hardship/Cancellation of Removal

An extreme hardship immigration case refers to a situation where an individual is seeking relief from deportation or removal from a country based on the claim that their removal would cause severe and undue hardship to themselves or to certain qualifying family members. This is often used as a basis for requesting waivers or other forms of relief from immigration authorities.

Asylum

An immigration asylum case refers to the process by which an individual seeks asylum in a foreign country due to a well-founded fear of persecution in their home country. Asylum is a form of international protection granted to individuals who can demonstrate that they have suffered persecution or have a well-founded fear of persecution based on race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.

U Visa

A U visa is a nonimmigrant visa that is available to victims of certain crimes who have suffered substantial mental or physical abuse and are willing to assist law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution of those crimes. The U visa was created to encourage undocumented immigrants who are crime victims to come forward and cooperate with law enforcement without fear of deportation.

Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)

VAWA includes provisions to protect immigrant victims of domestic violence and other crimes. It allows certain abused immigrants to petition for immigration benefits independently of their abusers.
