Forest Bathing has been in practice in Japan for decades and has just recently arrived to the U.S. Research indicates that being in a forest, or even in a park with trees – not necessarily hiking or participating in any aerobic activity – simply sitting or walking barefoot among the trees – is good for your health. Research indicates that trees emit compounds that are effective in improving the immune system in people. Research also indicates that forest bathing lowers cortisol (a stress compound) along with blood pressure and heart rate.
Emotionally speaking, forest bathing soothes anger and improves symptoms of depression and stress.
Therapy Evolved will be organizing group and individual excursions into local forests and parks. Please send an email or call if you are interested.
