What Is EMDR Intensive Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Intensive Therapy is a focused, accelerated approach to trauma treatment that condenses weeks or months of traditional therapy into a few highly structured, extended sessions. Rooted in the evidence-based EMDR method, intensives are designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic memories, limiting beliefs, or distressing life experiences in a concentrated timeframe, without the interruption of weekly gaps between sessions.

How EMDR Works

Therapy Evolved Can Help

EMDR helps the brain reprocess traumatic or stuck memories so they no longer trigger overwhelming emotional responses. Using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping), EMDR activates the brain’s natural healing process, allowing painful memories to be safely recalled, reframed, and integrated. This leads to a reduction in emotional distress and a greater sense of clarity and relief.

In an intensive format, EMDR is delivered over one to several days in longer sessions, which allows for deeper, uninterrupted progress.

EMDR Intensive Therapy

For many people, EMDR intensives offer faster relief and more focused results than traditional weekly therapy. Intensives are ideal for individuals with busy schedules, those traveling from out of town, or those who want to work through a specific issue more quickly.

Rather than spending the first and last 15 minutes of a weekly session checking in and winding down, intensives allow you to stay in the therapeutic process for longer periods, increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the work.

Why Choose an Intensive Instead of Weekly Sessions?

Who Might Benefit from EMDR Intensives?

EMDR intensives are well-suited for individuals recovering from trauma, including childhood abuse, accidents, loss, or relationship wounds. They are also helpful for high-functioning individuals who feel stuck in certain patterns or emotional responses despite previous therapy.

Intensives can be tailored to your goals—whether that’s reducing anxiety, processing a single traumatic event, or working through complex PTSD.

Our EMDR intensives are offered in mini (75-90 minute) and half-day (3 hour) formats.

Each intensive includes a focused 75 – 90 minute or a 3-hour session conducted via secure telehealth. This extended block of time allows for deeper trauma processing than is typically possible in standard weekly or bi-weekly therapy sessions.

How long does the intensive last?

EMDR Mini Intensives for Adults with Neurodivergence and ADHD

75 – 90 minutes
$350

If you’re neurodivergent or have ADHD and you’ve already done therapy but still feel stuck, EMDR mini‑intensives can help. These longer EMDR sessions are designed for adults who’ve lived through repeated traumas in school, work, medical, or family experiences – and are tired of feeling like they’re spinning in place.

EMDR mini‑intensives are 75–90 minute telehealth sessions focused on one or two specific themes (for example: medical trauma, burnout, ADHD‑related shame, or being chronically misunderstood). This format can be easier on ADHD and neurodivergent nervous systems than months of standard weekly therapy, because we work in focused, extended blocks with clear goals.

These sessions are private‑pay only and are not covered by insurance. The fee is 350 per 75–90 minute session. Most people complete 3–5 sessions over 4–6 weeks, so the work stays focused and time‑limited.
