Ketamine Preparation and Integration Therapy in Massachusetts

Ketamine can open a door. Preparation and integration therapy are what help you walk through it in a way that actually lasts. At Therapy Evolved, we do not prescribe ketamine. We focus on what the medicine alone cannot do: careful assessment before treatment, solid preparation, and thoughtful integration afterward so your experience becomes real, sustainable change.

All ketamine-related sessions at Therapy Evolved are private pay and delivered via telehealth to adults living anywhere in Massachusetts. Insurance does not cover these services.

If you already have a ketamine provider, we are happy to coordinate with them around your preparation and integration work. If you do not yet have a prescribing clinic, we can share information about local ketamine providers we are familiar with so you can decide what the best medical fit is for you. The medical decision is always yours.

Phase One:
Comprehensive Assessment

Before anyone begins ketamine preparation or integration work with us, we start with a careful assessment process. This is not a single quick intake. It is a structured series of sessions designed to understand you as a whole person and to make sure that ketamine is an appropriate and safe part of your treatment plan.

The assessment phase generally consists of three separate 60-minute sessions at $275 each.

During these sessions, we cover your history, current symptoms, trauma background, medical and psychiatric history, medications, and existing supports. We also explore what you are hoping ketamine will change in your life, and what you are willing and able to do to support that change.

By the end of these three sessions, you will have a clear recommendation from us about whether ketamine treatment is appropriate for you and what kind of preparation and integration work makes sense. If we believe ketamine is not the right fit, we will tell you that directly and can discuss other options.

Any of our trained clinicians can provide these assessment sessions.

If you decide to move forward with ketamine treatment through a prescribing provider, we then shift into preparation sessions.

Preparation sessions are 60 minutes and cost $275 each.

The focus of this phase is to help you understand what to expect, clarify your intentions, and build the inner resources you will need to move through the experience. We explore your goals, fears, and questions. We talk about set and setting, what to expect during dosing, and how to care for yourself before and after each session.

Most people complete one or two preparation sessions before their first ketamine treatment, although more is always available if needed.

These sessions can be provided by any of our clinicians who have training in ketamine preparation and integration.

Phase Three:
Integration During the Ketamine Series

Integration is where much of the real change happens. After each medicine session, there is a window of time, usually in the first few days, when your nervous system is more flexible, and your old narratives are not as rigid. Integration therapy helps you make sense of what came up, anchor the insights, and translate them into choices and habits in your daily life.daytryp+1
Integration sessions are also 60 minutes long and cost $275 each.
We generally recommend that an integration session take place within forty-eight hours after each ketamine session whenever possible. Some people also choose additional integration sessions further out as themes continue to unfold.
During this phase, we focus on reflection, meaning-making, emotional regulation, and gentle behavioral changes. We typically do not use EMDR while someone is in the middle of a six-session ketamine dosing series. The medicine already brings a great deal to the surface. Integration is about helping you digest and organize it, not about adding intensive trauma processing on top in the same window.
Any of our trained clinicians can provide preparation and integration sessions.

For many people, the end of a ketamine series is the beginning of a deeper layer of work. Once the initial relief has settled and the nervous system is less stuck, it can be an ideal time to move into focused trauma processing.

At Therapy Evolved, the next step is extended EMDR sessions after the ketamine series is complete.

These sessions are 75 to 90 minutes each at $375 per session.

The longer session length matters. A standard 50-minute therapy hour almost always means ten minutes for checking in, perhaps 30 minutes of EMDR at most, and then 10 minutes to close. For most people, especially those with complex trauma or ADHD, that is not enough time to reach the deeper layers and still end the session grounded.

In extended EMDR sessions, we have space to settle in, do meaningful trauma processing, and close carefully without rushing. The work is often more efficient and feels less fragmenting than trying to compress everything into a standard session.

This phase is offered exclusively by Cheryl Guerriero, LICSW.

You do not have to have completed ketamine treatment to work with Cheryl in extended EMDR sessions, but for clients who have gone through Phases One through Three, this fourth phase is often where the most profound and lasting shifts occur.
